Welcome back doctor...
We have finally emerged from the dungeon of trying to get an album together and are at last, playing a show again. The LP is in the final stages of production and we will most likely not have it for the upcoming show at Reggies. This mP show is 17+ for all you youngins out there and we will be debuting a new song or two (plus a bunch of hot sticky jams from the new LP). Mmmm hot sticky jams. Word to your mother.

Freaky Art
We've enlisted the help of artist, Sylvia Gyrion to shoot some brooding photos of miniatures for our album cover. I'm enthralled with the idea of using dolls as metaphor for the mechanical nature that surrounds the albums theme. The Victorian Gentleman can be seen below. Photobucket

Mastering DONE
Mastering is complete! Many thanks to Carl Saff for the revisions and tweaks. It's amazing how much time and effort goes into making decisions like "there should be 1.5 seconds of pause after this song" and "we should cut the ring-out... HERE!" have to go into mastering an album. Then there's fighting through the fatigue of listening to the same song 40 times. My ears actually started to play tricks on me after a while. I thought the high frequencies needed to be brought down by a fair amount across the entire album to reduce tape noise and the phantom noises I kept hearing. I was convinced that everything sounded to air-y and it was starting to hurt my ears... There are times when you just need to step back from things, and that was one of them. I'm really happy with what came from it though. It's been a long process and it's good to have something of this quality in my hands. I'm impressed with how a good master can bring a real polish to a record. Especially without over-compressing everything and having the good sense not to try and sound like a pop-record at 100 decibels.

website redesign and radio appearance
welcome to the redesigned dtvis.net. I am still working out all the kinks, but think it will be much easier for people to use and better looking.

For those of you in the western suburbs tune into WONC (89.1) on 1/17 at 6pm. We will be in studio kicking it and then moving over to the boilerhouse to play at 8pm. Good times.

some new tracks available
we finally finished recording the core tracks for the album last month and let me tell you we think its dope. we've put two rough mixes up on the dtvis myspace page for your listening pleasure. recording was absolutely exhausting for us and we are grateful for matt (the man at console) for all the work he put in. the whole process (writing, practicing, re-writing, arguing, etc) easily was the most energy i have ever put into anything in my life. i hope that end product reflects this... we still have some more bells and whistles to add and plan on mixing sometime in the fall. nothing has been titled or any art decided on. now that we've got our feet back on the ground expect a show soon.

a time to register our soul
You may wonder if the batteries in our radios have died recently, but alas we are alive and well. we have been endlessly tweaking the songs for our forthcoming LP. We hit the studio the first week of June, with Matt Talbott at the helm. The album is a concept about an individual's awakening of sorts and I believe that the songs capture the energy and emotions we have felt over the past year and a half. We will be shopping it around to some labels for distribution soon, but hopefully we will have a single to release earlier. In the meantime check out this vignette our good friends from early eternity production put together:

It's been a while
...since we've posted anything. Anyhow, thanks greatly to all those who came out to BK - you made it a resounding success. We felt a great energy and had a blast at the show. 'Ups' as well to Little Brazil, the hard-rocking nebraskens... Those at the show saw our beatufil new T-shirts for sale, including a few other things. It was great working with Dan Danger again, and we're very happy with how they turned out. Drop us a line and we'll ship one out to you... I'd post a picture on here, but I'm not good at the internets so I'll just refer you to our myspace page (www.myspace.com/dtvis). Elsewise, we have some tentative dates to finally sit down and record the album we've been working on for about a year now. The angry little beast is written, and we should be headed into the studio in June (barring any chance encounters with a cheetah). This album will physically change the way you listen to music and file your taxes for you. It's that good. What else? We're trying to get a show booked for April, and might be playing a couple of festivals in May, so we'll keep you posted on those fine opportunities. We saw These Arms are Snakes (along with Jesu and two other bands whose names got erased by beer) this past Friday, and enjoyed the hell out of it. Our friend Andrew got bled on, so that shows you how awesome it was. Oh, and Steve didn't shove our CD down his pants this time, so that was nice, although a little disappointing. Still reading? didn't think so. cheers! -ben hurt
